Established in 1978 in KS as the Wesley Medical Endowment Foundation; converted from funds resulting from the sale of Wesley Medical Center to HCA in 1985; current name adopted in 1991 - Formed as the philanthropic arm of Wesley Hospital in Wichita in 1978, the foundation later became an independent grantmaking entity. In 1985, endowed with the proceeds from the sale of the hospital, the foundation set out to respond to the needs of the people of Kansas

Purpose and Activities

The foundation is driven by a mission to improve the health of all Kansans. The foundation joins with the World Health Organization in defining health, believing that health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. .
