Established in 1977 in CA - The Wayne and Gladys Valley Foundation was formed in 1977 by F. Wayne Valley and his wife, Gladys Valley. For over 40 years prior to his death in 1986, Mr. Valley, through his business corporations and partnerships, was one of the largest residential homebuilders in California. Because their wealth was chiefly acquired through the real estate business operating in and from the East Bay, Mr. and Mrs. Valley believed this area should be the primary target of their gifts. Upon his death, Mr. Valley made a substantial bequest to this foundation to expand its philanthropic endeavors. Since then, the foundation has become a major philanthropic institution led by Gladys Valley until her death in May 1998. Mrs. Valley likewise made provisions upon her passing for more assets to come to the foundation so that it may be able to further the charitable mission originally established by them. The foundation will be terminating in 2018
