Background

Established in 1996 in OH; converted from the merger of the Barberton Citizens Auxiliary and the Barberton Citizens Hospital Foundation - In 1996, the original Barberton Citizens Hospital Foundation and the Barberton Citizens Hospital Auxiliary became one with the formation of the Tuscora Park Health and Wellness Foundation. This foundation was created from two entities which had a long history of support from the communities which it continues to serve. The mission of each was to improve the quality of health care in the area, and this continues to be the direction taken through the foundation

Purpose and Activities

Giving primarily to charitable organizations that share the foundation's mission of providing health and wellness opportunities for the citizens of Barberton, Ohio, and surrounding communities. The foundation also provides nursing scholarships to residents of the historical service area of Barberton Citizen’s Hospital, now Summa Barberton, for the purpose of encouraging careers in nursing.

Grants to Individuals Program

Scholarships to residents of Barberton, Kenmore, Manchester, Coventry, Norton, Doylestown, Rittman, Canal Fulton, Green or Clinton, OH, higher education leading to a diploma or degree in professional nursing.

Nursing Scholarships

Scholarships are awarded on a one-time basis only. Requirements are: 1) student must be a resident of Barberton, Kenmore, Manchester, Coventry, Norton, Doylestown, Rittman, Canal Fulton, Green or Clinton, OH; 2) must be currently enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited school of higher education, leading to a diploma or degree in professional nursing; 3) copies of most recent high school/college official transcript(s) provided to the committee--no application will be considered without an official transcript; 4) all questions must be answered or application will be considered incomplete and cannot be processed; and 5) interviews will be scheduled with selected applicants.
