Background

Trust established in 1943 in VA - Founded by the late C. Bascom Slemp, a lawyer and six time U.S. Congressman from Virginia. He served as Secretary to the President of the United States (a precursor to the White House Chief of Staff) Calvin Coolidge, and he was awarded the French Legion of Honor Medal.

Purpose and Activities

Giving primarily for education and the arts for the benefit of residents of Lee and Wise counties, VA. Giving also for scholarships to residents of Lee and Wise counties, VA, and to descendants of a resident thereof.
