Incorporated in 1952 in WI - Mr. Siebert, founder of Milwaukee Electric Tool Company, "elected to give his entire interest in his company to God, using the Siebert Foundation to accomplish this gift." The son of a Lutheran minister, Mr. Siebert had made a vow that if his company survived the Great Depression, he would give a part of the company to the Lord. The company prospered beyond his expectations and the foundation is a result of the pact. The Milwaukee Electric Tool Corp. was sold in 1976

Purpose and Activities

The Siebert Lutheran Foundation, using its resources, stewardship and relationships, enables the Lutheran community to be more collaborative, creative, and effective in sharing the Word of God, educating and instilling Christian values in youth, and serving people in need. The foundation's areas of interest include sharing the Gospel through Lutheran Churches and Organizations, Breaking the Poverty Cycle through Faith-Based Education, and Supporting Bible-Based Human Services. Special grants are made to seminary students who are members of Lutheran churches in Wisconsin .

Program Area(s)

The grantmaker has identified the following area(s) of interest:

Grants to Individuals Program

Grants to seminary students in Wisconsin to defray educational expenses while attending seminary.

Seminary Tuition Aid

The foundation annually makes grant money available to assist Wisconsin seminary students with their educational expenses at the seminary. Students must be enrolled, full-time in an accredited seminary for the purpose of ordination or leadership in Lutheran pastoral ministry. Students serving a vicarship or internship are not eligible.

Siebert Pastoral Development Program

This program is designed to allow the pastor to create a personal advanced development program, utilizing existing programs and resources available in the marketplace such as, but not limited to, Ministry Advantage, Pastoral Leadership Institute and Leadership Training Network. The pastor is to prepare a plan to include defined desired outcomes for the advanced development program, and how both the pastor and congregation will benefit when the program is completed. The funding may be used for tuition, books, travel expense and a laptop computer, if required by the program. Applications for programs costing less than $2,500 will not be accepted. This program is temporarily suspended. See foundation web site for updates.
