Incorporated in 1941 in IL - Mr. Schmitt was an inventor, founder of the Amphenol Company, and president of the Illinois Manufacturing Association. During his lifetime, he held 13 patents and contributed large sums for education and charity. Through the foundation, Mr. Schmitt financed the Fournier Institute of Technology near LeMont, Illinois. He was a trustee of DePaul University as well as of the Illinois Institute of Technology and the College of St. Francis. He held several honorary degrees, including one from DePaul University. He also served for many years as a director of Catholic Charities in Chicago.

Purpose and Activities

Giving for institutional scholarship support to universities for undergraduate and graduate studies, and to organizations that sponsor and mentor under-privileged students attending Catholic high schools. Funding also for organizations that develop and support learning and leadership in students of various learning levels.
