Grants to Individuals Program

Fellowships to VT high school teachers seeking professional development and leadership opportunities to positively affect the culture and climate at their schools. .

Rowland Fellowships

Each year, up to ten Vermont secondary school educators will be chosen as Rowland Fellows, whereby their schools will receive a $100,000 grant to implement a vision to transform an aspect of the school which will positively impact its culture and climate. An initial grant of $50,000 will cover a sabbatical for each fellow (and his/her family, if applicable) to provide an opportunity for travel, research, personal reflection and renewal, and the development of an action plan to be implemented upon the fellow's return to his/her school. An additional $50,000 grant is provided to each school in two installments to support initiatives developed by the fellow. The first $25,000 is made available upon the fellow's return from sabbatical. The balance of the grant is made after a visit by the Executive Director to each school and the submission of a final report.
