Established in 1982 in PA - The Gilroy & Lillian P. Roberts Charitable Foundation was originally funded by Gilroy Roberts, formerly the chief engraver and sculptor of the U.S. Mint, and designer of the obverse (heads) of the Kennedy Half Dollar

Giving primarily for higher education, health, and the arts. The foundation is also funding the storage and exhibition of the art work of Gilroy Roberts at Philadelphia Community College.

Program-Related Investment

Historically, the foundation made a PRI in the form of a mortgage loan in to a nonprofit organization to enable the organization to purchase land next to a historic house to facilitate educational tours and workshops about the historic house. The foundation last awarded a PRI in 1997 and renewed the loan in 2003. It plans to continue its PRI-making activity in the future.
