Incorporated in 1928 in DE - The foundation was created by John J. and Helena S. Raskob, in memory of their son William Frederick Raskob, II, the second of thirteen children, a devout Catholic and a student at Yale Univ., when he was killed in an automobile accident at the age of 20. Originally, the foundation directed its efforts towards assisting needy orphans and other poor children, and towards such other helpful purposes as were approved by the foundation's Members and Dirs. Over the years however, the foundation has tended to concentrate its activities in the field of education, and now has its primary purpose to assist needy college and post-graduate students who qualify for aid
