Purpose and Activities

The foundation enhances the development of healthcare delivery systems designed to provide appropriate health care services suitable for treatment. Areas of special interest include: disease prevention, including early detection of disease; improvement of conditions that contribute to morbidity and/or mortality (clinical, social or otherwise); improvements in quality of care and/or service delivery; promotion of wellness and healthy lifestyles; increased availability and accessibility of health care; consumer health education; health care provider education; appropriate use of health care resources; awareness about social issues affecting health, such as domestic violence, mental health, etc.; and other projects showing potential to improve community health.

Chair/Executive Director Discretionary Fund

Grants range from $500 to several thousand dollars. Funds are available to provide breathing machines to asthmatics and supplies to congregational nurses to contribute to radio programs on health issues, to support immunization initiatives.

Special Projects Fund

Funds are available each year for health-related seminars, conferences and other educational activities. Grants of between $500 and several thousand dollars will be funded. Funding will stop when total grants made in this category for any calendar year total $15,000.
