Established in 1972 in TN - Founded by the late Abe Plough, who was the founder of Plough, Inc., which merged with the Schering Corp. in 1971 and formed the Schering-Plough Co., manufacturers of pharmaceutical and household products. In 1977, the original Plough Foundation terminated as a single entity and merged with the Memphis-Plough Charitable Trust under that foundation's name. In 1980, the Memphis-Plough Charitable Trust changed its name to the Plough Foundation. Abe Plough served as the foundation's managing trustee until his death in 1984.
