Purpose and Activities

Giving primarily to provide law-related educational services and programs to the community and law school grants and loans to Middlesex County students, and to foster respect for the legal profession by the general public.

Program Area(s)

The grantmaker has identified the following area(s) of interest:

Lawyer Referral Service

Provides the public with free referrals to experienced attorneys in all areas of law. Individuals referred through the LRS receive either a free or reduced fee initial consultation with an attorney, depending upon the area of law.

Monority Concerns High School Outreach Program

Provides law-related learning experiences to high school students from New Brunswick and Perth Amboy during the months of January and February to instruct substantive areas of law, increase citizen awareness in the democratic process and provide career-related information on the legal profession and court system .

Pacement of Foster Children Program

The program is designed to assist the Department of Youth and Family Services with placing foster children in permanent homes, draft guardianship petitions to initiate the legal proceedings that lead to the adoption of foster children .

Reduced Fee LRS Program

Provides attorney referrals at reduced fees to those individuals who do not qualify for Legal Services but whose income barely exceeds the official poverty threshold.
