Established in 1977 in MD as successor to the first Marion I. and Henry J. Knott Foundation, Inc. - The Marion I. & Henry J. Knott Foundation is a Catholic family foundation committed to honoring its founders' legacy of generosity to strengthen the community. Henry and Marion Knott were incredibly dedicated to two things: their family and their surrounding community of Baltimore. In 1977, they started the foundation as a way of joining their two passions. Today, the Knott Foundation continues as a family-run philanthropic venture that strives to strengthen communities in central and western Maryland while preserving the Knott legacy of giving

Purpose and Activities

Giving for Roman Catholic activities and other charitable, cultural, educational, and health and human service organizations. Areas of interest include the fine and performing arts; Roman Catholic and non-sectarian private schools; higher, adult, and vocational education; hospitals and health services, including hospices and programs for the mentally ill; social and family services, including youth, the elderly, the handicapped, and the homeless; and community development and civic affairs.
