Trust established in 1951 in PA - The foundation was originally established in 1951 as The Bulletin Contributionship for charitable, educational and scientific purposes. The Contributionship became The McLean Contributionship on May 1, 1980 as the association of the McLean family with the Bulletin ended. Independent Publications, also owned by the McLean family, continues as the main financial supporter of the contributionship

Purpose and Activities

The grantmaker supports understanding and preservation of the environment, compassionate and cost effective health care and improving the quality of life through capital and other projects. Trustees prefer special projects rather than continuing programs and focus on capital projects: bricks and mortar, endowment, or will provide seed money for purposes falling within the contributorship's guidelines.
