Established in 2007 in WA - Founded by Edgar and Holli Martinez. Edgar Martinez was a third baseman and a designated hitter for the Seattle Mariners. He was selected to the All-Star game 7 times, and in 1995 he won the American League batting title. Martinez retired in 2004. He was inducted into the Hispanic Heritage Baseball Museum Hall of Fame in 2003, the Seattle Mariners Hall of Fame in 2007, and was first eligible to be elected into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2010

Purpose and Activities

The foundation annually funds ten undergraduate scholarships worth $20,000 each for Latino students in Washington State. In addition, funds raised will go to the foundation’s main focus of providing scholarships and support programs for graduate students of color to achieve a Masters in teaching degree from the University of Washington, Washington State University, and Seattle University. Students must maintain at least a 2.7 G.P.A. .
