Established in 1966 in DC - Founded by the late Alice and J. Willard Marriott. The Marriotts founded the Marriott Corporation (which became Marriott International in 1993), the parent company of one of the largest hospitality, hotel chains and food services companies in the world. Their son, John Willard Marriott, Jr., is the current Exec. Chairman of Marriott International.
