Background

Incorporated in 1962 in NY - Founded by members of the Lauder family. Estee Lauder was the co-founder of the famous cosmetics company that is named after her. Time magazine listed her as one of the 20 most influential business people of the 20th century and in 2004 she received the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Her son Ronald Lauder is a businessman, philanthropist, and community civic leader who sat on the board of directors of the Estee Lauder Companies Inc. from 1968-2009, and continues to serve as Chairman of Clinique Laboratories, LLC. The foundation originally financed a series of innovative "adventure playgrounds" in New York City's Central Park to improve recreational facilities for children and to beautify the park. The foundation has been supported by contributions from the Lauder family. Leonard A. Lauder is Chairman Emeritus of the Estee Lauder Companies. The late Evelyn H. Lauder was Senior Corporate Vice President of The Estee Lauder Companies. Today Estee Lauder dominates the prestige cosmetics industry with such brands as Estee Lauder, Clinique, MAC Cosmetics, Aveda, Bobbi Brown and Stila
