The foundation maintains two separate grant programs: 1) Individual support program for painters, sculptors, and printmakers who have worked at least 20 years in a mature phase of their art, and are in current financial need; and 2) Emergency assistance program for painters, sculptors, and printmakers who have worked at least 10 years in a mature phase of their art and are in current financial need in excess of and unrelated to their normal economic situation, and which is the result of a recent emergency occurrence such as a fire, flood or medical emergency.

Emergency Grants

Grants of up to $15,000 is given as one-time assistance for a specific emergency such as fire, flood, or emergency medical need. An artist must be able to demonstrate a minimum involvement of ten years in a mature phase of his or her work. Artists must work in the disciplines of painting, sculpture or printmaking.

Grants to Individuals Program

Grants to painters, sculptors, and printmakers who have at least 20 years of experience in a mature phase of their art. Emergency assistance to qualified artists whose needs are the result of an unexpected, catastrophic event.

Individual Support Grants

Twelve grants are awarded each year to encourage artists who have dedicated their lives to developing their art, regardless of their level of commercial success. Artist must show their primary involvement has been with their artistic goals, regardless of other personal or financial responsibilities. Artists must work in the disciplines of painting, sculpture, or printmaking.
