Scholarships to financially needy graduates of high schools in Sussex County, DE, for higher education.

The George E. Gordy Scholarship Award

Applicants must be Sussex County high school graduates and must have evidence of acceptance to an accredited institution of postsecondary education. Screening is done by the Scholarship Advisory Committee and a list of qualified applicants is provided to the Selection Committee to determine award recipients. The scholarship must be applied to tuition, room, board, books, transportation, lab fees and student activities. The funds will be sent directly to the college of the student's choice for ultimate disbursement. To remain eligible, the student must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5. The maximum amount of each award is $3,000. In general, participation is limited to four years and to those enrolled in baccalaureate and associate degrees or those working toward completion of the vocational or other educational program in which enrolled .
