Established in 1988 in HI - Founded by the late Hiram Leong Fong, who served as U.S. Senator from Hawaii from 1959-1977. He was the first Asian-American and the first Chinese-American to have been elected to that office. In 1964, he became the first Asian-American to seek the Republican party's nomination for President of the U.S.
