Established in 2005 in VA with proceeds from the sale of Danville Regional Medical Center - The foundation was established as a result of the sale of Danville Regional Medical Center to LifePoint Hospitals, Inc. in 2005. The foundation received $200 million in initial startup from this sale, but has no corporate affiliation with the organization at this date.

Purpose and Activities

The foundation seeks to develop, promote, and support programs designed to improve the health, welfare, and education of residents of the primary service area of Danville Regional Medical Center. The main areas of focus are: 1) Economic Transformation to produce a rising standard of living; 2) Educational Attainment to ensure that educational success is the community norm; 3) Health and Wellness; 4) Community Engagement, to build deep civic support for community innovations.
