Purpose and Activities

Preference is given to awards for the purpose of promoting Chinese culture, improvement in Chinese communities throughout the world, Sino-American cultural exchanges, Chinese language education, scholarly discourse relating to Chinese studies, and other similar cultural and educational projects. Support includes scholarships to graduating high school students and Ph.D. candidates in Chinese studies.

Doctoral Dissertation Research in Chinese Studies

Scholarships in the amount of $5,000 U.S. each are awarded to doctoral candidates in the humanities or social sciences with an approved dissertation prospectus. The scholarships are awarded on the basis of scholastic achievement without regard to academic discipline, race or nationality. A special award will be given to the top winner from the applicants with a cash award of $10,000 U.S. Enrollment in a university in the U.S. or Canada is required.

Grants to Individuals Program

Undergraduate scholarships to individuals of Chinese ancestry. Scholarships for Chinese language school students. Scholarships to Ph.D. candidates in Chinese studies, and project support and travel grants to Chinese scholars to attend conferences relating to the history and development of China.
