The Fund grants emergency assistance to needy writers who have commercially published at least one book of reasonable length. The work must be published by a traditional publisher. Grants are given to help authors in a time of emergency, whether health, hurricane, flood, fire, etc. Grants are not awarded to assist writers to complete projects. There must be a legitimate need that can be supported by documentation. .
