Established as a public charity. Status changed to a private foundation in 2013 - Founded by Brandon Roy, a retired NBA player who played for the Portland Trail Blazers and Minnesota Timberwolves. In 2006, Roy was selected sixth in the NBA Draft after playing four years for the Washington Huskies. He won the "2007 NBA Rookie of the Year Award" for his leadership role with the Trail Blazers and was selected as a reserve for the All-Star games of 2008 through 2010. He is nicknamed "B-Roy" and "The Natural"
