Purpose and Activities

The foundation is dedicated to health and human services, and serves as a change agent for improved health and wellness in South Pittsburgh, PA, through the dynamic use of resources such as grantmaking, information-sharing, partnering and leveraging of assets. Funding priorities include health access and education, strengthening children's well being, enhancing senior safety and health, building the capacity of local organizations, and improving community life by addressing violence, substance abuse and mental health. Within these priorities, the foundation has streamlined it focus on programs that 1) deal with issues of violence, especially youth violence, 2) deal with safety net issues such as food banks and utility assistance, 3) deal with school youth, including programs that decrease drop out rates, are high quality out-of-school programs, and improve reading and educational opportunities, and 4) deal with healthcare improvements for vulnerable and underserved populations.
