Background

Established in 1990 in NY - Founded by the late Leonard Bernstein, who was a celebrated conductor and composer. Mr. Bernstein is known for his long conducting relationship with the New York Philharmonic and also for his compositions, which include the musicals "West Side Story," "Candide" and "On the Town." He won several Grammy Awards for his conducting, including three for Best Album for Children and three for Best Orchestral Performance. In 1953, his "Wonderful Town" won the Tony Award for Best Musical. In 1969, Mr. Bernstein won a Special Tony Award for his lifetime of work in the theater, and in 1985 he won a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
