Background

Trust established in 1979 in TX - Mr. Baumberger was a lifetime resident of San Antonio and a former president and chairman of the board of the San Antonio Portland Cement Company. His will stipulates that the income from his fortune be devoted to education of Texas youth in the basic arts and sciences

Scholarships only to graduating seniors of high schools in Bexar County, TX.

Scholarships

The applicant must be a graduating senior of an accredited (TEA) high school within Bexar County, Texas, have resided in Texas for at least 10 years, graduate in the upper one-half of the class, and achieve a minimum total score of 1000 (Critical Reading and Math scorse only) on the Scholastic Achievement Test (SAT) or composite of 22 on the American College Test (ACT). The scholarships are limited to state-supported or non-denominational colleges and universities located in Texas. Baumberger scholars are evaluated on a competitive basis without regard to race, color, ethnic origin, sex, age, or religion and are selected by an impartial committee of professional educators. The scholars are awarded scholarships with the amount of stipend calculated each year based on college costs and student resources and are challenged to pursue quality higher education to the fullest extent culminating in a degree.
