Incorporated in 1934 in NY - A coffee importer and philanthropist, the late Jacob Aron was chairman of J. Aron and Company, which he founded in New Orleans in 1898 and later moved to New York. The foundation has received gifts and bequests from various members of the Aron family. Since it began grantmaking activities, the foundation has provided substantial support in the fields of medicine, hospitals, and general education. Metropolitan New York and the greater New Orleans area have been major beneficiaries. The officers and directors have been interested in stimulating programs and projects in areas requiring imaginative approaches. The foundation generally desires continuity in accepted projects and therefore has a substantial future commitment against its income
