Giving primarily to: encourage original and experimental thinking in the visual arts; support new ventures in the contemporary arts that may be at an especially critical point in their development; and help organizations involved with emerging or under-recognized artists, particularly those run by artists themselves or in areas where there is a lack of institutional resources for contemporary artists.

Fund for Arts Research

The program encourages emerging and independent curators and other arts professionals to develop projects that are consistent with the American Center Foundation's mission of supporting under-recognized talents, risk-taking projects, and experimental thinking. Individuals may submit an inquiry for a grant of $7,500 for research and travel. Eligible individuals are curators, critics, writers, and others who are active in organizing projects in contemporary arts and culture. Candidates are selected for award consideration by the Board of the American Center Foundation after being identified by Board members and by outside nominators who are invited to submit names. There is no application or interview process and candidates are not informed of their nomination in order to preserve the objectivity of the selection process.
