Incorporated in 1949 by Marshall W. Alworth to honor parents who were early pioneers in northeastern MN

Purpose and Activities

Giving scholarships to high school seniors who: 1) are graduating from a high school in one of the following MN counties: Aitkin, Beltrami, Carlton, Cass, Cook, Crow Wing, Lake, Itasca, Koochiching, and St. Louis; 2) have a composite score of 26 or higher on the American College Test (ACT); 3) will be graduating in the top 20 percent of their class (if not in the top 20 percent but has an ACT score of 28 or higher); 4) will commit to majoring in one of the designated fields of study which are detailed on the foundation's web site; 5) have demonstrated qualities of character, perseverance and ambition; 6) have a high scholastic standing among their peers; 7) have shown promise for a career in the sciences; and 8) are from a family whose taxable income is less than $120,000.
