Background

Established in 1997 in MA. Over the next few years, the Abele family plans to more than double the foundation's endowment, which would make it one of the larger foundations in the nation with assets eventually approaching $2 billion - Founded by John Abele, co-founder of Boston Scientific Corporation, a medical device company dedicated to less-invasive medicine. The company is a worldwide developer, manufacturer and marketer of medical devices, used in interventional cardiology, cardiac rhythm management, peripheral interventions, electrophysiology, neurovascular intervention, endoscopy, gynecology and neuromodulation. Mr. Abele is also the owner of The Kingbridge Centre and Institute, a 120-room conference center in Ontario that provides special services and research to businesses, academia and government. The Abele family members serve as the Board of Trustees and John Abele is the Chair. and Jeneye Abele is the C.E.O. and Pres.

Purpose and Activities

The mission of the foundation is to support people and programs that make our society a better place to live. The foundation seeks to employ creative and entrepreneurial approaches that help people to help themselves, and become self-sustaining whenever possible. The intention is to solve systemic problems, build teams and communities, create replicable solutions, and inspire others to contribute in their own ways.
