Established on July 13, 1967 in MI - Founded in the name of Peter Martin Wege, who founded the Metal Office Furniture Company in 1912. M.O. F., as it was called, became Steelcase Inc., on Dec. 1, 1954. In 1998, Steelcase became a public company traded on the New York Stock Exchange. The foundation was established to help fund needed public causes in the community where Peter Martin Wege's son, Peter Melvin Wege, was born and raised.
