The mission of the foundation is to improve the quality of life in the Minneapolis-St. Paul region by supporting organizations and leading initiatives that address important issues and needs.

Established in 1993 in MN - Founded by the late Carl and Eloise Pohlad. Mr. Pohlad was a financier and banking mogul who created Marquette Bank (later sold to Wells Fargo in 2002). He was also Vice-President of Pohlad Companies, a diversified holding company, from 1984 until his death in 2009. Under Pohlad's ownership of Major League Baseball's Minnesota Twins, they won two World Series championships. He also owned a part of the Minnesota Vikings from the mid-1980s to 1991.
