The mission of the foundation is to support promising artists in the visual and performing arts to to further the preservation and awareness of art and cinema.


Established in 1991 - Founded by James Ivory and the late Ismail Merchant. As co-creators of the production company Merchant Ivory Productions, they have produced, directed, and/or wrote such films as "A Room with a View" (1985), "Maurice" (1987), "Slaves of New York" (1989), "Howards End" (1992), and "The Remains of the Day" (1993).
