Purpose and Activities

Emphasis on enhancing the quality of life through innovative grants in four main areas: 1) Health - to achieve effective delivery of physical and mental health care services; 2) Social Justice - to develop organizational, social, and legal approaches to aid deprived or handicapped people; 3) Education - for new or improved counseling for effective preschool, vocational and paraprofessional training; and 4) the Arts - to increase opportunities for talented youth to receive training and for less affluent individuals to attend quality presentations; some aid for programs relating to nationwide problems.

Incorporated in 1943 in NY - Mr. Goldman, a prominent New York City attorney and tax expert, established the law firm now known as Brauner Baron Rosenzweig Kligler Sparber and Bauman, Attorneys-at-Law. During his lifetime, Mr. Goldman was active in the affairs of a number of New York charitable institutions, including Mount Sinai Hospital and Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. In addition, he was one of the founders of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. During the period from 1943 until his death in 1968, Herman Goldman made a series of gifts to the foundation totaling $1,265,391. His residuary estate was devised and bequeathed to the foundation, increasing its assets by approximately $18 million. The foundation is also the remainder of two trusts, one established by the donor during his lifetime and the other under his will
