Purpose and Activities

The project works to preserve the land, literature, and legacy of Henry David Thoreau to foster an ethic of environmental stewardship and social responsibility.


Established in 1990 in CA - Founded by Donald "Don" Henley, a musician, in honor of the late author, Henry David Thoreau. Henley began his music career as a member of the influential rock band The Eagles, widely considered to be one of the greatest rock bands of the modern era. As a solo artist, Henley's albums include "Building the Perfect Beast" and "The End of the Innocence." Henry David Thoreau (1817-1862) was an abolitionist and environmentalist whose works include "Civil Disobedience," "Walden," and "Walking."
