Purpose and Activities

The organization works to stop violence against women and girls by making awards to nonprofit groups in the U.S. and around the world who are dedicated to raising awareness of the issues and who are actively working to end rape, incest, domestic battery, and female genital mutilation.


Established in 2001 in CA - Founded by Eve Ensler, a playwright, performer, and activist who is the author of the performance piece "The Vagina Monologues," which premiered in 1996 and was given the Obie Award for Best New Play.
