Purpose and Activities

The mission of the foundation is to work with charitably minded individuals and organizations to strengthen southern AZ communities, now and for generations to come. The foundation also administers a variety of donor-initiated funds and conducts competitive scholarship and grant rounds.


Established in 1980 in AZ - The Community Foundation for Southern Arizona is the community foundation serving Pima and Santa Cruz counties. It is made up of more than 500 funds representing individuals, families, organizations and corporations. The foundation's assets total more than $75 million and as one of the region's largest grantmaking organizations, in 2005, it distributed almost $5 million to nonprofits. Since the foundation's inception in 1980, it has granted more than $56 million and ranks in the top 15 percent of foundations nationwide
