Purpose and Activities

The foundation supports the advancement of the careers of promising and talented American opera singers through providing awards and grants for study, performance, and other career-enhancing activities; the foundation also provides support, advice, and professional opportunities to singers at an advanced level of vocal training, and to singers on or approaching the threshold of artistic acclaim.


Established in 1975 in NY - Founded in the name of the late Richard Tucker, a tenor who made his debut at the Metropolitan Opera in 1945, and soon became one of the most successful American opera singers of the late 20th century. Among his most famous roles are Enzo in Ponchielli's "La Gioconda," Canio in Leoncavallo's "Pagliacci," and Radames in Verdi's "Aida"
