Giving primarily to organizations which enhance the benefit and residents of Tioga County, NY. The foundation wishes to accomplish this mission by encouraging grant requests for critical needs, capital projects, and seed money for new and special projects or programs.
Established in 1985 in NY - Mildred Faulkner Truman, who was born in Owego, NY in 1897, and remained a life long resident of Owego, served as a director of the Owego National Bank, as well as the Tiaoga County Historical Society, after the death of her husband, James S. Truman, an Owego attorney. Mildred Faulkner Truman was an able and successful investor, and as a result, she accumulated a substantial estate. Upon her death in 1983, her will provided that the residuary of her estate be used to establish a foundation to fund grants to qualified tax-exempt organizations, whose worthwhile projects benefit the residents of Owego, the Owego area, and Tioga County, NY
