Purpose and Activities

The foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of people who suffer from mental illness. It works to enhance mental health treatment and support by advancing the best practices through grant making to non profit organizations in the 10 southwestern Pennsylvania counties of Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Greene, Indiana, Lawrence, Washington, and Westmoreland. Current priorities include: 1) rural behavioral health: applicants for this grant will provide services to people in at least one rural area and will describe how the approach used will reach and engage people who face the challenges of distance and stigma; 2) access to behavioral health services and support for underserved populations: applicants for this grant will make the case that the population they are targeting does not now receive services at an expected rate and that their project will reach and engage the underserved individuals more effectively; and 3) Criminal Justice Diversion. Applicants for this grant will propose a program in collaboration with the criminal justice system that will divert youth or adults with behavioral health issues from arrest/jail to treatment and support in the community .

Incorporated in 1937 in PA - The Staunton Farm Foundation is a family foundation established in 1937 in accordance with the wishes of Matilda Staunton Craig, who wanted her estate to be used to benefit people with mental illness.
