The organization administers an international program of year-round sports training and athletic competition for more than two million children and adults with intellectual disabilities.


Established in DC; Founded in 1968 in DC; status changed to a public charity in 1988 - Founded by the late Eunice Kennedy Shriver. Ms. Shriver was the sister of U.S. senators Edward M. and Robert F. Kennedy, and U.S. President John F. Kennedy; she is also the mother of journalist and author Maria Shriver
