The foundation makes grants to charitable organizations.


Founded by Orlando "Tubby" Smith, a current college basketball head coach for Texas Tech University. He has coached teams for: the Virginia Commonwealth University (1979-1986), University of South Carolina (1986-1989), University of Kentucky (1989-1991 and 1997-2007), University of Tulsa (1991-1995), University of Georgia (1995-1997), and University of Minnesota (2007-2013). In 1998 he coached the University of Kentucky Wildcats to their seventh NCAA Championship. In 2003, he was named Naismith College Coach of the Year; in 2005, he was named Jim Phelan Coach of the Year
