Purpose and Activities

The foundation assists in funding education for children of New York City, New Jersey, and Connecticut police officers who have lost a parent in the line of duty; New York City fire fighters; New York state troopers; and New York/New Jersey Port Authority officers.


Established in 1982 in NY - Founded by the late George M. Steinbrenner III to help defray funeral costs for the families of slain police officers and firefighters. Originally the chairman of the American Shipbuilding Company, Steinbrenner purchased the New York Yankees in 1973. During his tenure as owner, the team won 7 World Series titles, and Yankees became the most profitable franchise in Major League Baseball. Steinbrenner became the first owner to create his own team-based cable network, YES. Steinbrenner passed away in 2010.
