Purpose and Activities

The foundation works to assist women in filmmaking with film school scholarships, production grants, finishing funds, and other invaluable resources through partnering with the American Film Institute, Columbia University School of the Arts Film Division, The Sundance Institute, Independent Feature Project, Nantucket Film Festival, New York Women in Film and Television, and the Maurice Kanbar Institute of Film and Television at New York University Tisch School of the Arts.


Established in 2006 in NY - Founded in the name of the late Adrienne Shelly by her husband Andy Ostroy. Ms. Shelly was an actor and filmmaker who co-starred in the films "The Unbelievable Truth" (1989) and "Trust" (1990); she also co-starred, wrote, and directed the critically-acclaimed film "Waitress" (2007).
