Purpose and Activities

Scholarships are awarded for the furtherance of overseas studies in the visual arts. The scholarships cover the reasonable costs for a period of twelve months overseas, and include a tax-exempt stipend, plus return airfares and institutional fees for one academic year. Eligible individuals are graduates of not more than six years standing of a studio-based course at an Australian institution of higher education, and must be either Australian citizens or have permanent residency status, and be at least 18 years of age. Persons currently overseas may apply provided they are otherwise eligible in accordance with the above. Samstag application forms and detailed guidelines can be requested through the Trust web site by filling out the electronic form.
