Purpose and Activities

Grants for urban affairs and public policy, with a special emphasis on New York, NY, problems, as well as national policy issues; education, including higher education; biomedical research; and Jewish Life.


Incorporated in 1956 in NY - Founded by the late Charles H. Revson, who was a cosmetics industry executive. In 1932, he founded Revlon, Inc., which he subsequently built into a major international corporation and managed it for fifty years. He donated more than ten million dollars during his lifetime. The majority of these gifts went to organizations serving the Jewish community, medical institutions, and schools and universities, particularly in New York, his adopted city. Revson willed half his estate to the foundation upon his death in 1975.
