Purpose and Activities

The purpose of the foundation is to promote outstanding research in the humanities and social sciences, and to foster a fruitful dialogue between scholars and policymakers in the arts community, business, government, the professions, and the voluntary sector.


Established in 2001 - Founded in the name of the late Pierre Elliott Trudeau, who was the Prime Minister of Canada from 1968 to 1979, then again from 1980 to 1984. Considered to be one of Canada's most influential Prime Ministers, Trudeau was the subject of the documentaries "Memoirs" and "Just Watch Me: Trudeau and the 70's Generation," as well as his life was depicted in the television mini-series "Trudeau," and "Trudeau II: Maverick in the Making."
