Purpose and Activities

The foundation provides educational and cultural opportunities through grants, scholarships, and direct programs to young people whose parents make their living in the commercial fishing industry and in working marine communities.


Founded by Sebastian Junger, who is the author of the books "The Perfect Storm: A True Story of Men Against the Sea," (which was adapted into a film in 2000), "Fire," and "A Death in Belmont." He also directed the 2010 film "Restrepo," a documentary about the war in Afghanistan, as well as its 2014 sequel, "Korengal".
