Purpose and Activities

Established in 1988 in NY - Founded by the late Robert Mapplethorpe, who was a controversial photographer, best known for his black-and-white photographs of the New York S&M underground, his homoerotic work, and self-portraits and portraits of entertainers, including "Patrice," "Ajitto," "Man in Polyester Suit" and "Thomas."
